Eat, drink and be merry!

Our favourite wine and food pairings for the festive season.

Wine and food pairing can get a bit crazy, especially at this time of year. However it needn't be confusing and shouldn't be intimidating.

Matching people and wine is perhaps more important, so once you have that sorted out you might like to try some of our favourite combinations. The trick is to match the intensity of the food and wine.

Cava Beso De Rechenna Brut Nature Reserva NV with crayfish, or Spanish jamón, or croquettes.

Alvear CB Fino Sherry with olives, salted almonds, or boquerones.
Fattoria Mancini Roncaglia with shellfish; cockles, scallops etc. sauteed or in a tomato based sauce.
La Viarte Ribolla Gialla with grilled snapper.
Vie di Romans Chardonnay with smoked salmon.
Sin Palabras Albariño with kingfish sashimi and slivered green apple, or grilled scallops with breadcrumbs, or jamon serrano, or red pepper and paprika.
Huerta de Albala Barbazul Syrah Merlot with duck, or truffle, or mushrooms.
La Viarte Schioppettino with bbq pork.
Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva with herb crusted lamb rack.
Alvear Solera 1927 PX Pedro Ximenez Sherry with fresh sliced oranges and caramelised nuts, or pâté, or crumbly or blue cheese.
