I am the Owl is an edgy wine. Like its namesake song from cult hero band Dead Kennedys, this Syrah has a certain energy to it that is undeniable. According to Taras, the organically farmed vineyard for the Owl is set deep into loamy soils that mean he never needs to irrigate. He just lets the vineyard do its own thing each year and pick when he thinks it's good to go. 100% whole bunches too. This is such an interesting style of Syrah. It's sleek and slender but still with lovely mid-palate weight, all sorts of floral, spicy, mineral characters and a certain wildness about it that makes it hard to look away. Beautiful cool climate Hills Syrah.
