Argiano is one of the oldest winemaking estates in Montalcino with a rich 500-year history dating back to the Renaissance. The estate served as a bastion of winemaking through the centuries and in modern times Argiano produced one of the first Brunello di Montalcinos.
In 1967, Argiano was one of the first of the two founders of the ‘Consorzio di Brunello di Montalcino’ that manages public relations and the image of Montalcino wines. The winery has continued its leadership in Italian wine, working with Giacomo Tachis, the man credited with changing the course of wine in Italy as the founding father of the Super Tuscan movement. His legacy includes Sassicaia, Tignanello and Solaia, to name a few. Tachis helped craft Argiano’s Solengo, the first Super Tuscan to originate from Montalcino.
Today, Argiano’s wines are acclaimed internationally for their elegance and style and Argiano is widely acknowledged as one of the finest producers crafting Brunello di Montalcino.
‘Fantastic aromas of orange peel and dark berry with plenty of plum and cherry. Sweet tobacco and mushrooms. Full body, juicy and fruity with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Complex and gorgeous. Fine and very long.’

‘Shows laser focus and a precise delivery of aromas that makes and immediate and satisfying first impression. This is a delicately assembled wine that shows the deft hand of the winemaking team behind the scenes. Bright fruit and cherry is connected, in a careful embroidery, to spice, leather, tar and cured tobacco. There are subtle tones of ash and crushed mineral as well.’
