A great value??and very rare Hermitage - only 24 btls imported to NZ. ??
93/100 Wine Spectator - "Dense and built on loamy tannins, this offers lots of sage, pepper, tobacco, bay and leather notes sitting atop a core of blackberry and black currant fruit. A broad, tarry swath coats the finish for now. Still rather tight. Best from 2016 through 2026." ???JM, Nov 2014.
17/20 Jancis Robinson: ??"When to drink: 2017 to 2027
Two years in barrique but only 10% new. This has a strangely New World aroma ??? a little bit minty. I don???t know if this is stress in the vineyard? Also has a definite cassis quality to the fruit, as if someone had sneaked in a bit of Cabernet. On the palate it is more typically Syrah. Very fine, dry, almost chalky tannins. On the austere side still but maybe it will become a swan? Unusual. Very long." - Julia Harding MW, Tasted: 10-Sep-2015.
