Kusuda 2018 Syrah - Winemaker's Notes:
Dates harvested: 27-28 April. Harvested by hand with rigorous selection
Sugar level (Brix): 21 - 23
Total Acidity: 5.2g
Vinification: 92% destemmed without crushing, cold soaked for 1 to 8 days. Fermented in open stainless-steel vats with pumping-over and hand plunging, total period of maceration for 25 to 28 days. Aged in French (25% new) oak barriques for 21 months. Unfined and bottled after coarse filtration.

Remarks: Dry spring followed by very warm summer with wetter than usual February. A touch wetter but the season was favourable for the cool climate style Syrah in Martinborough. 24hl/ha.
