Established in 1977 by Irishman Dr John Lagan, the Xanadu vineyards now owned by the Rathbone family continue to flourish in a near-perfect viticultural environment that inspired Dr Lagan; rich free draining gravel soils; an abundant water supply and a unique maritime climate. Winemaker Glenn Goodall mirrors the original vision; to produce premium wines that reflect the true character of the region in synergy with the environment and vineyards.
In the 'house style' for Xanadu chardonnay. Poised and elegant, the aromas and flavours are in the citrus and stone fruit spectrum, the oak beautifully integrated and providing texture as much as anything. Grapefruit-like acidity runs evenly through the palate, gathering and lingering on the finish. Drink by: 2022; Tasted: Jan 2016; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

A brilliant, bell-clear iteration of chardonnay, typical of Xanadu, gloriously fresh and intense. Lemon, grapefruit, nut and nougat aromas; clean and refreshing. The wine finishes tight, frisky, intense and long. A wine of superb purity. Rating: 95 Points; Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine
Here’s a wine that delivers full Margaret River Chardonnay flavour without going over the top. It’s juicy sweet and flinty, fresh pineapple drizzled with lime, some oatmeal and almond, and a tight finish of excellent length. There’s nothing not to like, and everything to enjoy.
