Stormwood Syrah 2022 750ml

Fruit for this wine comes from the Owhanake Peninsula, Waiheke Island. Planted in 1992, this vineyard is one of the island's oldest Syrah sites, with sandy clay soils and a natural amphitheatre setting tempered by cooling afternoon sea breezes.

The 2022 growing season on Waiheke Island was exceptional, with warm, dry conditions and long hours of sunshine. Consistently warm days, tempered by cooler evenings, allowed the fruit to ripen fully while retaining freshness and natural acidity.

Harvested by hand in late March, the grapes were destemed and transferred to open-top fermenters for fermentation. Twice-daily plunging was employed throughout fermentation, followed by an extended post-fermentation maceration period. The wine was matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new, before light fining and bottling.
